Star Wars Episode V Retold in Iconoscope

Well, it was great fun doing Star Wars Episode IV Retold in Iconoscope, so after much digital sweating (and swearing) I've finally completed Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.

In doing this one,  you realise how much more complex and in-depth the story was compared to first movie. The narrative is split into several sub-stories and keeps jumping between them - plus, in the first move there were virtually no costume changes for the main characters - but in this one, each had several, all of which are iconic.

But, I hope I've got it pretty much there. The plot is correct (it was from memory) but apologies if some some of the narrative jumps come in slightly the wrong places.

This one is also twice as long to get all the plot in - I tried cutting it down to a shorter length, but it then didnt make sense, so in the end I created two parts to make it a little more manageable to "read". (Is that what you do with icons? Who knows). So, read/view/engage your ocular senses after the break to see it all.

  11. What is up with scene 23? Michelin man, a pen, etc.? Why is Michelin man holding IG-88's rifle? And where is Dengar, from Corellia (same place Han is from)? Get with it, homes!

Yes, I geeked out but Star Wars fans (especially fans of Empire, the best) want perfection!!!

  12. Brilliant. When are you turning your hand to the Star Wars Christmas Special? Don't do scratch & sniff...

  13. The posters are awesome. In panel 62, is that supposed to be Lando and Chewie saying they'll take the Falcoln to rescue Han? It looks like Han is standing next to Chewie since he has no cape. Is this a typo?

  14. Ah! Interesting comment. This matter is also referred to in the excellent Family Guy Empire special. On the final scene where Lando and Chewie are leaving to find Han, if you watch the movie you'll notice for some weird reason Lando is wearing Han's clothes! No explanation is ever given. So in my iconoscope, it shows Lando's head on Han's body, to match the movie.

  16. I am in awe of you sir. You have blended with pure genius, two of my favorite things in life: icons and Star Wars. Thanks for this. I hope it brings you much deserved recognition. Cheers.

I'd be honored if you'd check out my icon site: http://iconify.it. I'm not trying to spam your thread so feel free to delete this link. But I am sincerely in awe of your work on this. How long did it take to do?

  17. Hi Iconify - thanks for the praise - really glad you liked them. Checked out your site - great work. Saved the link for future icon needs. The most recent one (Return of the Jedi) took nearly a year - just fitting it in between jobs and on weekends etc. They're a lot of work! But how often do you get to render Jabba the Hutt as - lets face - a turd? Keep up the great icon work. Wayne

  18. This is fantastic! I wonder about 62, though... it looks like Han Solo is heading off with Chewie in the Millenium Falcon... to look for Han Solo.
