I've very recently gotten into original online TV content. I love how open it can be, unrestrained by Networks or ratings. One of the first that I got hooked on was Geek&Sundry's TableTop, starring Wil Wheaton.
This is an excellent, show where the premise is simple: Wil invites three friends to join him in playing a selection of interesting board games... and that's it! The results are funny, entertaining and a great way of getting an insight into how some of the best board games out there are played.
During a quiet Christmas break, I thought I'd create an illustration about the show. Now.. I'm not suggesting that Wil Wheaton is the Messiah (that's for history to decide), but his trademark opening pose together with the striking table just seemed too much to pass over.
Pictured in the illustration are just a few of the many guests that have been on the show (the table would have had to have been really long to fit them all in). Seating from left to right are:
Colin Ferguson, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Steve Jackson, Alison Haislip, Anne Wheaton, Wil Wheaton, Grant Imahara, Felicia Day (with Dr. Hannah), Bonnie Burton, Phil LaMarr, Beth Riesgraf and Bill Prady.
Hope you like it.
UPDATE:
A print of my picture (which I spoke to Geek&Sundry about them doing) featured in the Tabletop Day live stream event behind the celebrity players with Wil Wheaton. I followed as much as I could and I've put copies of twitter pictures and screen grabs at the bottom of this page - check them out (all images are copyright of their respective owners.)
ADDITIONAL UPDATE:
I'm delighted that the artwork is now installed behind the Loser's Couch for series 2 of Tabletop! The producer of the show contacted me at the beginning of the year to say that it was the plan, and that there would be a season 2 - I had to keep quiet all this time!! But with episode 2 just posted, its really cool to see it on the screen. Here's a screen capture from episode 1:

DeleteTruly Awesome! Would make a great t-shirt or poster :)
ReplyDeleteYou win the Internet today.
ReplyDeleteThis needs to be a T-Shirt ASAP!
ReplyDeleteDr Hannah!
ReplyDelete"just seemed too much to pass over"
ReplyDeleteNot sure if that was an intended pun or not, but it made me laugh.
It wasn't deliberate eek - good spot:)
DeleteThanks all :) - glad you liked Dr Hannah. Glad I won the Internet today. T-shirts / posters will be down to the permission of Wil and Geek&Sundry - but I will ask if its on the cards
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteOne thing....Felicia needs to have more tentacles! ;)
ReplyDeleteSteve Jackson - as Judas Iscariot?...
ReplyDeleteHe's just missing an instant plaid shirt...
ReplyDeleteThat is really fantastic! Hope the t-shirt works out, that would be so great!
ReplyDeleteThanks all for the comments! Fingers crossed on the t-shirt / posters - will be down to Geek&Sundry I guess.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! G&S needs to make this a poster and t-shirt, for sure. However, could you perhaps post the last image? Bill Prady seems to be left out from the big images, thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThis really is outstanding. Great work!

DeleteGreat capture! Is this CC licensed?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make this my Facebook Timeline image for a while.
Thanks Blair :)
DeleteMacdude - go for it!
Done! My son asked about it almost immediately and now he's going to catch up on the TableTop series. :D
DeleteMacdude - that's cool! Hope he likes it. You watch the new episode?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Sean Plott? Why is he not there? I mean comon, he won the first episode ever of TableTop, he should be there.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty freekin' great. Thanks so much for sharing.

ReplyDeleteI did this in similar fashion with my DnD group a few months ago :)
Okay, that is pretty great.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late reply to some of these...
ReplyDeleteUnknown re. Sean Plott - there were about 30 guests in total - I couldn't do them all!!
Jon - thanks mate - glad you like it :)
Prophotographic - wow! really cool photography dude! Love the look of it. And beautifully lit to emulate the old masters. Really cool!
Mordicai - Thanks. I thinks so too, but then Im biased. :)
Please make a poster and T-shirt out of this A.S.A.P. Trust me, you're sure to make some coin off nerds such as myself. You'll probably get a few religious nutjobs sending hatemail, but I'm betting you'll get far more people loving it (and again, paying you for the merchandise). Maybe with Jynx, as I believe Tabletop has t-shirts through them already.
ReplyDeleteHey Me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments. You're the first to get a positive response on this matter. Watch this space. Wheels may be in motion...
I just watched the Formula D episode and noticed your work behind the losers' couch. Awesome picture and really hope to see a print available for purchase. Would look amazing in my games room!
